As a sponsor, your responsibilities encompass three key phases—prior to, during, and after Confirmation:
1. Pre-Confirmation: Support the candidate in their preparation for Confirmation.
2. Confirmation Ceremony: Actively present the candidate during the Confirmation ceremony.
3. Post-Confirmation: Assist the confirmed individual in fully embracing and practicing their Christian faith.
To be eligible as a sponsor for Confirmation:
1. You must be a registered and active member of a Catholic parish.
2. You must actively participate in the life of the Church by attending Mass and receiving Holy Communion each week.
3. You must have received all the Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) and, if married, your marriage must be recognized as valid by the Catholic Church.
4. You must be at least 16 years old.
5. You must celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least once a year.
6. You cannot be the candidate’s mother or father.
• Only one sponsor is required for each candidate.
